The Model 1873 Chamelot-Delvigne Service Revolver was the first modern handgun used by the French army. It was produced by the Saint-Étienne Arms Factory from 1873 to 1887. Although it was replaced fairly quickly by the Model 1892, it was widely used during World War I and still equipped reserve units in 1940. Afterwards, the resistance made generous use of it.
